National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day at Greenspan's Grilled Cheese
In celebration of National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day, we cruised over to Greenspan's Grilled Cheese on Melrose Ave in West Hollywood, California to indulge. Of course, with our G Pen Elite.
Founder Eric Greenspan, alumni of Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and Berkeley's Haas School of Business, has an extensive background in the culinary arts ranging from battling Bobby Flay on Iron Chef America and winning, to serving as executive chef at Patina Restaurant, awarding him as "Eight Hot Chefs" in Angeleno Magazine.
In addition to owning and curating Greenspan's Grilled Cheese menu, Eric is also the chef/owner of The Roof on Wilshire and Maré.
Greenspan's signature sandwich "The Champ," declared "the #3 comfort food in America" by Alton Brown and the Food Network, consists of raisin walnut bread, apricot caper puree, taleggio cheese and beef short ribs. This mouthwatering delight has also been featured in LA Weekly, the New York Times and CBS Sunday Morning.
"Johnny Apple Cheese" aka Johnny Pastrami was also scrumptious. Pastrami, white cheddar and apple mustard chutney with green apple in between sourdough bread.
Essential.
