In Beyond the Streets latest art exhibition "Dedicated to You," Chicano culture in Los Angeles is celebrated through the works of Estevan Oriol and Teen Angels. For those not familiar with this iconic artist or magazine, here's a quick bio of them and their work.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Estevan Oriol is of Mexican-Italian descent and most well known for his 35mm black and white art. He's also worked with various film and hip-hop celebrities, while also being featured in magazines, album covers and exhibitions around the world. Some of the musical artists include Blink 182, Cypress Hill and D12.

From 1981 to 2006, Teen Angels was an independent magazine that focused on Chicano culture in California and the southwest. It featured art, photos, and articles that highlighted the pachuco culture, tattoos, fashion, lowriders and other aspects of cholo street culture. Self-published in a "zine" format, the magazine also contained hand-drawn portraits, poetry, comic strips, dedications and obituaries.

The showcase features selected works from both Estevan's unparalleled catalog, along with work from Teen Angels.

In Estevan's words, "This exhibition is more than a showcase of my work; it's a homage to the city that raised me, the culture that shaped me, and the individuals who've walked this journey alongside me. It's a moment to reflect on the layers of Los Angeles, through the lens of my camera and the stories that have unfolded in its streets.”
