Grill 'Em All
Downtown Alhambra, California essentially won the lottery with the residency of one of the few places where the culinary arts, heavy metal & professional wrestling authentically collide, Grill ‘Em All.
Founded by underground music & wrestling enthusiasts, Ryan Harkins & Matthew Chernus in late 2009, Grill 'Em All’s initial inception was as a food truck traveling around the greater Los Angeles area. Going on to win Food Network's first Great Food Truck Race, the high demand for fierce burgers became so drastic that the trucks (Beast and Son of Beast) were put to rest (of course in an honorary Viking funeral) and the brick and mortar restaurant made its debut.
The menu pays homage to the legends of all facets of heavy music, as well as craft beers and a revolving menu of specialty burgers.
Currently, our favorite hardcore band Terror & electrifying rookie to the WWE, Aliester Black, graces the ranks of Grill ‘Em All Burger of The Month as the One With the Underdog (titled after Terror's One With The Underdogs album).
The aesthetic of the restaurant is every Heavy Metal or Professional Wrestling fanatics dream. The walls are lined with memorabilia as the TV plays some of the Attitude Era’s most classic matches.
We were lucky enough to get a first hand look at the magic behind the scenes. Showcased above are the Behemoth (1/2 lb. beef patty on grilled cheese buns, BBQ sauce, bacon & pickles), a simple classic the Winger aka the Stewart (1/2 lb. beef patty with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, thousand island dressing, added avocado) & the Jump in the Fryer (1/2 lbs. beef patty on waffle buns, cheddar cheese, fried chicken, bacon, maple syrup, sriracha).
In focus: One With the Underdog (LA street dog on a 1/2 lb. beef patty, grilled jalapeños, onions, peppers, pepper jack cheese, jalapeño bacon).
We happened to run into lead guitarist of Terror, Martin Stewart to grab a portrait with the One With the Underdog.
The Cowboy From Hell (1/2 lb. beef patty with pulled BBQ chicken, jalapeno bacon, cheddar, lettuce, red onion, garlic aioli) was one of the squad’s favorite.
This. Was. MENTAL!!!
Special thanks to Ryan Harkins (left) for the generous hospitality & mouthwatering eats. Here he poses with Grill 'Em All’s lead chef & designer Kenny, who shared some fresh upcoming designs.
Overall verdict: Grill 'Em All is brutal! Be sure to stop in for your metal gourmet feasting.
